Our Story
Born and raised in her native Bogota-Colombia, single Mom, visionary entrepreneur Claudia Caballero follows her passion for empowering people. Among Claudia's most favorite things to do, are to smile, give hugs and inspire others to live a more positive and fulfilling life.
If anything can get her out of bed in the morning, it's any of her unique business ideas, a book and a cup of coffee, and of course her passion for helping others to change their lives by discovering the unique gifts God has given them.
The story behind the brand name 10 1/2 means “you are more than you think you are”. This was given to her as a gift when she was 18 by her late brother Jairo. As life has some twists and turns they both end up in the Amazon jungle at a very young age. Her brother was very artistic, and he soon learned how to make jewelry from gold, one day, Jairo came to her with what seemed to be a charm made of gold. He said, “Negrita! Look what I made for you!”
I looked at him with curiosity and stared for a moment at what he was showing me. It looked like a number. I replied, “What is this?”
He proceeded to put it on the palm of my hand and began explaining, ”Negrita, you are not a ten. You are a ten-and-a-half.”
I really didn’t understand the meaning of what he said until years later when his life was tragically taken from us and then I realized what he meant. What he meant was that we all are more than we think we are, stronger, bolder, powerful beyond our imagination. After his death I decided to pursue all the things he told me I should do but I never believe enough in my self.
So in the fall of 2014 I decided to pursue my long-time dream of bringing to market some of the beauty secrets kept in my family.
Our scrubs were inspired by a tradition that the women in my family have kept for generations.
